Puppy Love Song

Monday night is family time. We call it family home evening because we're oh so totally Mormon, but normally I just say FHE and leave it at that. It's the one evening a week we try our darndest to stay home doing "wholesome recreational activities" and usually having a quick spiritual lesson. This Monday, we started things off right with a french toast dinner (apparently brinner has become my thing lately) and a nice discussion about churchy things before heading off on a walking adventure, just us and the Llama Dog.

^^^ Mr. Llama planned out our study for the week, like a good dude. We use a white board because it's big and obnoxious and makes it harder to miss or ignore, so we're more likely to actually study what we planned to.

^^^And then we left to go explore the area. Unfortunately that meant we had to cross the busiest intersection in the world, which meant we had to wait for the walk sign for about twenty minutes (only slightly do I exaggerate) before we could finally get going. One of us was not amused by the wait.

^^^Once we actually got going, our adventure took us along a trail with access to Los Gatos Creek which runs right near our place. Of course the access was pretty small, and most of the time on the trail you couldn't actually see the creek because it's so far below the trail itself... but we did get to stand beside the water, which was sort of cool we guess?

^^^And Llama Dog decided drinking the water would be a good idea, and then gave me this face as if to say, "What? Don't you drink from streams that contain runoff from the streets above?"

^^^Anyway, then because I am an attention seeker, I had Mr. Llama take a picture (maybe more like 15, but I'll only make you look at one) of me posing while "walking the dog." For posterity and whatnot.

^^^And because I've seen too many pictures of bulldogs on instagram, I asked Mr. Llama to walk with Doggy Dog into some tall grass so he could frolic. The only frolicking he did was once he got out of the grass, because he hated it with a passion, and once completely surrounded, planted himself and refused to take another step. So much for a joyous insta of him enjoying himself in nature.

^^^On our way home though, at the corner of that street where the KFC stands (I ATE THE BONES!), we were waiting for another light and saw a bulldog sticking its head out of the window of a car right next to us. "Oh look, Honey, another Bully!" said I. "HEY! Can we come talk to you!?" Shouted the woman driving the car.

^^^So there, in a small patch of grass behind the KFC, Llama Dog met Libby Dog, the future mother of the children he will never have because we had him neutered before we moved to San Jose.

^^^It was a passionate meeting, one I'm sure neither dog will forget.

^^^Many soft words and promises were exchanged. They were soul mates. We nearly shed a tear.

^^^And when they said their farewells, the audience sighed.

Unfortunately, Llama Dog forgot to ask for his new girlfriend's number, so the chances of them meeting again are pretty slim. Hopefully he doesn't pine too much. The whole thing did make me think though, that I'd like to find a group of dogs he can play-date with. Maybe there's a bulldog club nearby where he can make friends and get his crazy out every few weeks? Or a dog park we can take him to periodically?

Anywho. Long story short, we went for a walk on Monday night and had a pretty good time and then came home.

And yes, I'm still pregnant.

If I paid you ten bucks, would you drink from the creek like Llama Dog did? Should I look into a bulldog club nearby? Do your pets have significant others? Why didn't our dog want to frolic in the tall grass like other dogs do!?

Lunch Time Blues

Just once during this pregnancy I would like to be able to finish a meal without getting nauseas. Sadly, I think that blessed miracle has decided to pass me by, because even now, six days from my due date, I still can't finish a stinking ham and cheese sandwich at lunch time without feeling like I am going to hurl. I mean look at my plate!

Isn't it sad? The hunk of heaven on the left is jam packed with sharp cheddar and mustard, two of my favorite things in the world. And I still can't eat it. And the crust, well, Llama Dog generally helps me eat that, because apparently I am a 5 year old when it comes to my sandwiches. Which is probably why he looks like this 99.7% of the time that I'm eating.

It is super cute until you feel guilty for eating the last bit of your own meal because you're depriving the dog of its one joy in life. Maybe I should have thought more about this whole table scraps thing when he was little.

In other news, I thought I was going in to labor last night, but I wasn't. I feel like this is becoming a pattern. A very depressing, anxiety inducing pattern. Andplusalso, I started actually reading the birthing book I got so many moons ago, and it is simultaneously increasing and decreasing my fear of labor and delivery. I didn't even know that was possible.

Reading it pretty much goes like this.

Oh my gosh! I have to push a baby out of my vajay! It's going to hurt so bad! But I can handle it! But holy cow, did you know it's going to hurt for hours and hours? Dude, you've got this, you're a champion. A champion of PAIN! No! A champion of growing a baby and then pushing it out of your body all by yourself because you're a bad A.

Rinse and Repeat.

So pretty much I have all of the feelings in the world about childbirth now, and they are just building up and eventually will explode. Probably around the same time my body does, resulting in a small creature Mr. Llama and I will then be responsible for that we can't just put in a kennel to calm down.

This is going to be fun.

What is your favorite thing to eat for lunch? When was the last time you hurled? How many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie pop?

Cedric The Conqueror

In case you were wondering, Llama Dog has adjusted pretty darn well to life here in California. He likes the weather because the pavement doesn't get so hot it burns his paws, and he can go hang out on the balcony during the day when we leave the screen open for him. He's actually out there right now, chewing on his bone and staring wistfully over the garden courtyard (yeah, you read that right, there's a garden courtyard). Here is a visual for you, except minus the bone, because he gets distracted when I go out there and stops chewing, so this is a picture from earlier.

Pretty much he does the same things he's always done though. He curls up in the most hideous of hideously hideous chairs (Mr. Llama's words, not mine, I love the thing) and sleeps.

He creeps on you when you're sitting on the toilet playing Candy Crush Saga (no, I still haven't gotten past level 65. It's basically torturing me).

And he goes on walks with us and poops in inconvenient places. Good thing daddy was a boy scout and is always prepared with some sort of plastic bag thingy to pick up the poo.

Interesting fact about the photo above; I took it with my Holga lens which was a birthday present from Mr. Llama in the olden days of the beginning of this month. Basically its a little lensy thing that attaches to my Canon, Norbert, and is a perpetual instagram filter. I am sort of in love with it.

Off to fatten up my puppy-dog with some left over bacon from breakfast. He can thank me later.

Do you have a pet? What kind of animal? Would you feed it left over bacon or would you eat it all yourself... because I'm not gonna lie, I'm kind of hungry still?
